Motueka and Nelson Lakes

Nelson - Farewell Spit - Motueka is a fair bit of driving, and quite tiring. Still, sitting in a room at the backpackers isn't the most exciting, so we venture out again to take a couple of long exposure photos in Motueka. The road out to the marina is a causeway, it looks pretty neat! There is also a drain the lets tidal water in and out of the area the causeway blocks off. This has a very strong current through it, and some cool swirling patterns in the water.

The next day we went back to Nelson to meet up with a friend, then through to Westport via Nelson Lakes. Originally we were going to drive the direct route to Westport, but I'm glad we went via the lakes. Lake Rotoiti is nice, Lake Rotoroa is home to many persistent sandflies!
