A quick sunset silhouette from an evening walk up Mangere Mountain.

Mangere Mountain
Lake Wakatipu
The western and northern areas of Lake Wakatipu, away from the busy centre of Queenstown.
Moke Lake
Moke Lake, not too far up behind Queenstown. It’s a peaceful and quiet spot, where you can enjoy lovely views of the surrounding hills. As the afternoon moves on, the sun rays dance across the slopes, giving nice patterns of light and dark.
Piha Beach
Low tide at South Piha means you can walk out to The Gap by Nun Rock. The gap in the rocks means torrents of water rapidly surge through with incoming waves, then drain away again as they ebb.
Bay of Islands
Sunrise from Paihia, in the Bay of Islands.
Mangawhai Heads
It’s nice to get away for the weekend and enjoy a quick road trip. I’ve visited Mangawhai Heads before, but the last couple of times it’s been rather cold and dreary. This time it was lovely!
Queenstown
I seem to spend a bit of time in Queenstown for work. Sometimes the weather isn’t very pleasant, other days it’s quite peaceful, and you get treated to nice sunset colours.
Maroubra Beach
The eastern side of Sydney has some interesting rock formations that line the coast. Bays and beaches lie between the rocky cliffs, which of course have expensive houses perched along them.
Kitimat and Terrace
Driving inland from Prince Rupert you wind along the end of some large lakes, and end up in more mountainous areas. The first stop was Terrace, with a bit of a detour down to Kitimat. The lakes in British Columbia are beautiful, and there are plenty of lovely vantage points to stop - find time to be there in the early evening for awesome light.
The Inside Passage
An overnight ferry doesn’t sound all that exciting, but it turned out to be one of the best parts of the Canadian trip. Starting from Port Hardy at the Northern end of Vancouver Island, delays meant lovely silhouettes and sunset views to begin with. When the sun rose in the morning, steep green hills were either side as we cruised up the Inside Passage. Eventually the ferry makes its way to Prince Rupert, where the road trip began! Well worth it!
Vancouver Island
Vancouver Island has many amazing views - there are many spots I want to go back to again, and probably again.
