The first part of our trip was up to Canada to visit Candice's family. It's been over three years since we've been back, so it was good to see everyone. To get there from Los Angeles took a while. Three hours to Vancouver on WestJet, a train ride, then45 minutes on a bus to the ferry, an hour and a half on the ferry to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. Candice's aunty picked us up in Nanaimo and drove us up to the next ferry at Comox. This was a slightly roundabout route, but it ended up being quicker, and we got to see her aunt. From Comox it's another hour plus ferry ride to Candice's home town of Powell River. Powell River is a fairly small town, and access is via ferry or via air. There are no roads in or out.
