On the way through the windy wet roads from Picton to Nelson we came across the Pelorus River and Bridge. It has lovely colours and clear water. Some people visiting there were brave enough to swim in the cold water. I decided to stay warm and keep dry. As we drove further towards Nelson we took a detour to check out Cable Bay. This bay has historic significance, as it was where the first overseas cable was laid, to Australia, in 1876. The road out to Cable Bay is narrow and bumpy. I think I may have even dented one of the rims on the car in the process of driving out there! When we arrived, it was still cloudy and showers on and off, but bit of terrain were showing themselves under the cloud.
